Clare Castle Country Park- a beautiful quiet area to relax, play, get close to nature and learn about Clare’s fascinating history and heritage.
The park contains the remains of the 13th Century stone castle keep set upon its 60ft high motte overlooking the town, as well as its inner and outer baileys which are ideal areas for recreation and picnics. The inner bailey also contains the former railway station which now houses the Platform One Cafe serving hot drinks and food throughout the year.
Away from the open green areas visitors can find the footpaths through the trees and along the banks of the River Stour and along the old railway line. Mersea Island, Colchester

Brighlingsea
A small coastal town with a beach that’s perfect for family outings and for paddling and swimming. Its sandy beach runs along Western Promenade next to Batemans Tower, a historic local landmark. A parade of beach huts lines an attractive and enjoyable waterside walk where you can join the nature trail along the site of an old railway line to Alresford Creek. Aldeburgh
This sand and shingle beach is probably the best known of all Suffolk’s beaches. Backing on to the pretty seaside town of Aldeburgh there are no shortage of facilities either.
Aldeburgh has plenty to explore on and around the beach. Along the beach front are any number of quirky historic buildings. These include the 400 year old Moot Hall, a Martello tower, a converted windmill and a Norman church.
There is cultural heritage here too; composer Benjamin Britten is strongly linked with the town and there is a monument to him on the beach – the Scallop. The art scene remains vibrant in Aldeburgh with a number of galleries, most notably Caroline Wiseman’s housed in the South Lookout right on the beach.
However, the best cultural experience to be had in the town are fish and chips which have been rated as the best on the East coast!

Sudbury, Suffolk– Sudbury is a market town in the English county of Suffolk. It is located on the River Stour near the Essex border.
Sudbury’s long running busy market is held every Thursday and Saturday come rain or shine, with a few stalls on Fridays in 2020 (a guide below). Toppesfield is surrounded by wonderful countryside, open farmland, hills and valleys.
For keen cyclists, Toppesfield is a popular cycle route with new paths and tracks to discover. There are routes available for all levels of experience.
There are a variety of public footpaths to explore freely in Toppesfield or choose local walks encompassing some of the surrounding villages of Great Yeldham, Castle Hedingham, Great Maplestead, Wickham St Paul and Belchamp St Paul.
